The name 'Gorooab' means ‘five men’. We were enthralled by this
– ‘five chivalrous gentlemen’
falls pleasantly on the ear.

During a visit by Reinhard, an expert on Namibia and its linguistic heritage, we ascertained that Gorooab in fact means ‘Male Marula Tree’, which is appropriate in light of the fact that the luxury tent camp on the farm, consisting of five tents, has each been erected in the shade of a majestic marula tree.

Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same. But how do you begin to describe its magic to someone who has never felt it?
